This is it. We are finally going to South America. Well, to be totally honest, we are here already in Buenos Aires, and a little behind in getting this blog up and running. So, in order to cover everything from the beginning, I will backtrack a bit.
March 2011, Dan and I and our buddy Chris took an 11 day ‘mancation’ to South America. We attended a friend’s wedding in Brazil, visited Foz de Iquacu in Argentina, and did a 4 day hike along the Inca trail to Machu Picchu in Peru. This trip did not suck – in the least. While in Peru, we met some fascinating(ly hilarious) people who had been traveling around the world for 3, 6, even 12 months at a time. A light switched was turned on, and we knew that we had to take a trip like that. Over the next year and a half, we fantasized about it, talked seriously about it, saved some money for it, and then straight up quit our jobs and bought plane tickets. So in other words, we are those idiots.
First stop, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Our spanish is rusty – about 7 years rusty. Our plan extends no further than 3 days at a time. Our facial hair is getting rowdy. And our stomachs are craving empanadas.
